Genesis 17: 7, “ I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you.” The importance of passing on the story, the legacy, is so that the younger generations will call to mind that which has transpired before them.

Joel 1: 3, “3 Tell it to your children, and let your children tell it to their children, and their children to the next generation.” How will the next generations know or understand unless we share the story and our faith?

The Old and New Testaments are shaped and wrought with geneaology and the importance of ancestoral lines. When I was younger, I really did not care to understand who was related to whom, nor the value of those relatiohships, or how to pronounce some of those difficult names. But… over time understanding Big Picture also meant appreciating the lineage of the Bible characters (who in fact are real people). I discovered that in the lineage lies legacy of people, and the past prepares the stage for what is to come. Many people seem to be looking into their ancestory, they have this keen desire to know where did I come from and who am I related to. That in and of itself is very important. But Ultimately, the key relationship that I want to be known for having is my connection and belief in Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
