Reflections
How many times do we pass in front of a mirror or a reflective surface and catch a glimpse of what we look like? I would fathom to say… countless times. And… the ironic thing is we tend to find something about the reflection of ourselves that we really don’t like. In other words if we could change that or those things about ourselves, we would. So in an attempt to do so… We spend numerous hours in front of the mirror trying to correct what may not be changeable. Let’s take hair for instance. We comb it, brush it, style it, gel it, cut it, trim it, fluff it, dye it, re-arrange it, cover it, braid it, twist it, ponytail it… only to end up undoing what it took minutes/hours to arrange.
We never seem to be totally satisfied because truth be told… We aren’t by our own doing or effort made perfect. :)
However, there is a scripture that talks about how we are perfect just the way we are. Psalm 139:14 states, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Amen.
To further illustrate my thinking, I am sharing a Cut Paper Design to go along with this Blog post. It is an imperfect symmetrical design called “Patterned by Design ~ Purple”. Christ in His perfection is on one side and we like a mirror image are meant to reflect Christ’s character. The more time we spend with our Bible open diving deep into His word we learn about who Christ is and how He loves us. Imagine this spending countless hours with Jesus reshapes our being. We begin to reflect Him in our speech, our style of dress, our deamor, our attitude, our beliefs, and our behavior. We are Christ’s ambassadors his representatives on earth. If we are not reflecting Him, we may ask ourselves, “Why Not?”
Let’s consider what is really important: Things of this world or our heavenly home? Let’s make it a point to be so filled with Jesus that we can’t help but Reflect the Love and Goodness of our Mighty Creator.
So… the next time you feel compelled to fix that hair think about what really matters and spend some time getting to know your Creator.
God bless you!
